Job Description

Do you instinctively step in to help, love people and always consider others and their perspectives? Are you an Architectural Graduate looking to gain full-scope project experience in a busy, boutique firm?

This is a different kind of experience! Camber and True Collective, together with our sister construction company, is simply here to help - our employees, clients, and industry partners - one relationship at a time and through the mediums of architecture and construction. We are looking for a passionate, people-focused, self-motivated, and dynamic Project Architect with the ability to build meaningful relationships and to lead the design/production effort on projects of varying sizes/scopes that impact everyday people, every day of the week.

Project Architect

A typical and great day for you would be collaborating with the Principal, supporting, mentoring or teaching co-workers. You would be working to execute all phases of design including initial programming, planning, feasibility, scope and concept development, and to lead detailed design, construction documentation, and construction administration. You will partner with consulting engineers or other vendors, by providing clear direction so that they are better equipped to complete their corporate mission. You are encouraged to participate/volunteer in an industry trade organization and to pursue licensure.

Qualifications

· Passion for people; is an active listener seeking to understand before any response is given

· Has a desire for self-improvement, continuing education and self-reflection.

· Minimum 5 years of recent experience in technical and design production – if you have a little less, apply anyway! We will train!

· Proficiency in relevant computer software:

o AutoCAD and Revit – there will be a test for AutoCAD.

o SketchUp and Enscape is a plus.

o Microsoft Office Suite

o Adobe Creative Suite

· Flexibility to travel (moderate) required.

· Architectural licensure preferred.

· Experience with meeting with clients to assess needs and developing an associated project program.

· Experience developing conceptual designs and coordinating with engineers on the design team.

· Knowledge of developing the BIM model for the resulting design and coordinating with all other internal and external project team members. BIM360 experience a plus!

· Extensive experience developing construction drawings and specifications that incorporate client, jurisdictional, and industry standards.

· Knowledge of building codes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques.

· Excellent verbal and written communication as well as time management skills

· Dynamic and captivating presentation skills

· Comfortable taking responsibility for internal and external project communication and coordination.

· Has a love for mentoring and coaching junior staff and assisting in professional development.

Essential Duties

· You get to have personal interactions with EVERYONE through building and maintaining meaningful and authentic relationships. We’re a little old school that communication is key: in person is best, phone/text is next and written correspondence is for record keeping.

· Simply, you are a kindness giver. You are an ambassador of kindness by being an example of responsiveness, attention to detail, caring about the people involved.

· Your opinion counts – so give it! Have an opinion with creative solutions, and also be ready to follow directions.

· Be an accountable, communicative self-starter. Not that you’d go rogue or anything. We expect that you’d freely review all projects daily with Principal by discussing status on milestones/deliverables, emails and other correspondence received or required, and ideas for any improvements or modifications to current project deliverables.

· Be dependable for all deadlines you set for yourself or may be given. You’ll have to manage feasibility studies, schematic designs, working drawings and project manual/ specifications production for your projects.

· Details matter! You’ll be responsible to provide strong technical detailing skills in a variety of construction materials and building types.

· Teamwork, teamwork, teamwork! It sometimes feels like it takes a village to complete some of the work we need to. For some projects, you’re the quarterback in charge of coordinating information, managing consultants, delegating work assignments, and setting schedules/deadlines.

· You set the stage for a successful project by meeting on-site with clients and/or consultants to perform existing condition site investigations, including building measurements, surrounding site documentation such as ADA compliance, observation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, observation, and documentation of structural systems.

· You make sure it all gets done! Most of our work requires submittal to jurisdictional agencies. Each one has its own rules and regs – you make sure we get our work done the way they want to see it!

· See your projects through completion. That’s right. Your project is yours from start to finish. You’ll get to work with the contractors by answering RFIs, reviewing submittals and issuing revisions during the construction phase. Occasionally, you’ll be required to travel to site to perform construction observation.

· Show the world who we are, what we’re about, how relationships matter and why we believe we’re different. You’ll get to represent Camber and True Collective by actively participating in professional organizations and social functions.

Job Type

· Part to Full-time

· Salary: $75,000-$100,000 depending on experience and qualifications

· This is an in-office position. Hybrid possible after 90 days and prior approval of the Principal
