BYD is focused on building and delivering the highest quality and highest reliability bus and heavy-duty electric truck systems in the world.
BYD is seeking an experienced Strategic Sourcing Specialist to keeping up to date with market trends, such as new products, suppliers etc., and using this information to make informed sourcing decisions in the United States and Canada. The candidate will be based at the BYD Lancaster, CA Plant and will report to the department Supervisor.
This individual must be extremely organized with attention to detail, hardworking, and dedicated to providing the highest level of quality and timeliness in the industry. We are seeking a person who is highly professional, and who can work individually, as well as in a multi-functional team.
Candidate must demonstrate the following to be considered:
- Establish, analyze and optimize the business’s procurement strategy ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Manage vendor selection: Lead initial market research and vendor profiles to aid supplier selection. Manage proposal evaluation and final vendor selection.
- Build ongoing vendor relationships: Use vendor management best practices throughout negotiation, contracting, onboarding and renewal. Conduct regular vendor performance evaluation and supplier risk assessments.
- Collaborating with other departments: Sourcing specialists often work closely with other departments, such as procurement, production, engineering and logistics to ensure that the organization’s supply chain runs smoothly and has the resources and materials it needs to operate effectively.
- Identifying cost savings opportunities: Sourcing specialists are responsible for identifying cost savings opportunities, such as negotiating better prices or finding alternative suppliers.
- Keeping up to date with market trends: Sourcing specialists are responsible for keeping up to date with market trends, such as new products, technologies, and suppliers, and using this information to make informed sourcing decisions.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in relevant fields
- Minimum 3 years' experience in sourcing or procurement
Pay Range
- $70,000-$100,000/yr
