The Medical Assistant performs a variety of duties related to providing patient care.

Primary Responsibilities:

Prepare examination rooms and sterilizing equipment
Room patients, obtain health history, check vital signs and perform EKGs
Administer injections and collect specimens
Document patient care using NextGen electronic medical record software
Schedule appointments, complete prior authorizations, process medication refills, handle referrals, answer calls and complete paperwork
Assist physicians and nurse practitioners with minor, in-office procedures

Required Qualifications:

High School/GED
Medical Assistant Diploma and/or Medical Assistant Certification or ability to obtain a Medical Assistant Certification within the first 6 months of employment (CCMA, AMT, AAMA, NHA, NCCT, NAHP)

Preferred Qualifications:

1+ year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant
CPR certification
NextGen experience
EHR/EMR experience

Proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases is an employment requirement.
