Kadiak LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Windows Engineer with a Top-Secret Clearance to support Kadiak and our government customer in Vienna, Virginia. This is a Hybrid position, 3days onsite required and 2 days a week, depending on client needs, of telework allowed.

We are seeking an experienced, results-oriented, mission-driven Windows Engineer with additional background in AWS cloud services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our Windows-based systems and applications, ensuring their performance, security, and reliability. This role requires a blend of on-premises Windows server management and cloud-based infrastructure expertise as we continue to work towards migration to AWS.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Serve as a key member of our Operations and Maintenance team supporting both Windows Engineering requests and eventual AWS related support areas.
Design, install, maintain and troubleshoot complex Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory/LDAP, MS Exchange, WSUS, PowerShell, DNS and related systems on all enclaves.
Create and maintain the physical and virtual Windows Server, Exchange, SharePoint and related environments for the organization-maintained networks.
Implement and oversee Active Directory, Group Policies, and other Windows-based services.
Perform system monitoring, verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes.
Troubleshoot and resolve system and software issues in a timely manner.
Create and update Windows images for workstations on the TSC networks.
Work on engineering projects for custom applications.
Manage server security and information assurance including the analysis and remediation of security scan findings.
Design and implement cloud-based Windows services
Design, implement and maintain VMware, Nutanix or similar virtualized infrastructure.
Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies.
Manage backups or recovery to/from tape, disk and cloud.
Ensure the integrity and availability of backup data.
Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity planning.
Optimize system performance and recommend infrastructure changes as needed.
Implement monitoring tools and set up alerts for proactive issue resolution.
Work closely with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of systems and services.
Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other team members.
Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
Ability to coordinate and delegate tasking as necessary.
AWS certifications are a plus.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Top-Secret Clearance required.
3+ years of experience in Windows system administration.
Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation.
Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, Splunk, or equivalent.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven experience with AWS cloud services, including but not limited to EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, CloudFormation, and IAM.
AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator.
Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
Experience with hybrid cloud environments.
Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, or Chef.
Familiarity with Linux-based systems.
Working Environment & Conditions
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.
The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
