Summary THIS IS AN ARMY NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a T32 SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN) (MI-JFHQ-G6), Position Description Number D2490000and is part of the MI JFHQ Army, Michigan Army National Guard. Responsibilities THIS IS A TITLE 32 NATIONAL GUARD POSITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP This position is located in a National Guard JFHQ-State organization under the office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO/G6/J6). This is a National Guard Dual Status Technician position requiring military membership. Serves as project leader/supervisor responsible for developing, assigning, and coordinating duties and projects for systems administrators. Serves as the senior systems administrator responsible for planning, coordinating, modifying, implementing, and troubleshooting to support customer needs. The systems administered involve multiple hardware platforms running multiple operating systems in both physical and virtual configurations. The incumbent is accountable for the planning and coordinating the installation, testing, system security configuration and monitoring, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of all server hardware and software. Work pertains to the administration of all systems including ensuring the efficient integration between systems as well as compatibility within the network infrastructure. The supervised team members are specifically assigned to multiple system platforms located throughout the state. DUTIES 1. Provides executive leadership, guidance, and direction to ensure acquisition, development, and retention of a professional, highly capable workforce to accomplish assigned missions. Provides supervision in the daily operations for delivery of C4IM services. Coordinates the work of team members to ensure that short-term and long-term goals and objectives are met. Directs, manages, and monitors a system of internal controls that ensure effective and appropriate use of resources. Leverages optimization techniques to maximize the efficiency of all computer systems. 2. Establishes performance standards and evaluates employee performance. Reviews and recommends approval of candidates for promotions and recognition. Reviews and approves work plans to be accomplished by subordinates; priorities and schedules for completion of work; sets broad objectives; monitors subordinate employees' performance in providing IT services; reviews accomplishments; and takes appropriate action of correction when deficiencies are noted. Gives advice, counsels, or instructs individual employees, on both work and administrative matters. Develops and evaluates performance standards; recommends and approves awards; hears and resolves group employee grievances or serious employee complaints. 3. Collaborates with other supervisors and managers within the directorate to negotiate, decide on, or coordinate work-related changes affecting them. Advises their supervisor with broader and higher responsibilities on problems involving the relationship of the work of the system administration teams to broader programs, and its impact on IT Services. Serves as a technical advisor to management. Participates as a member and advisor on special committees and special projects designed to study methods to enhance the use of IT throughout the Command. 4. Resolves inquiries and problems concerning access, use, and availability of datacenter technologies. Develops and enhances automated systems to improve performance and efficiency. Provides technical assistance to current and potential users to minimize disruptions of computer operations. Provides formal or informal training so users understand the relationships of the system and are able to work with the system without undue interruption. Tests and analyzes system malfunctions to resolve physical and logical processing problems. Military Grades: E8 - O4 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Months Required: 36 Experiences working on information technology administrative classified systems, workstations, and servers using multiple operating systems. Experiences involved the installation and testing of the system security configuration, along with a range of competencies in monitoring, operating, troubleshooting and maintaining workstation and server hardware and software. Must have experiences as a technical expert and unit focal point for the configuration of hardware and software on a variety of IT systems with different hardware and operating systems. Skilled to identify and enforce command standards for hardware and software configurations. Skilled to develop, modify, and tests overall system backup and recovery strategies for assigned systems. Capable to configure work-station security parameters. Competent in troubleshooting and correcting software problems that included resolving conflicts between applications, hardware and/or device conflicts, and operating system faults. Skilled in detecting and removing computer viruses. Skilled in restoring critical data files; and in updating hardware and software architecture databases to reflect installations, turn-ins, and changes in reportable software. Experienced as a systems administrator with responsibilities that included planning, coordinating, modifying, implementing, and troubleshooting that met or exceeded customer needs. Knowledgeable on the administration of all systems, to include a myriad of associated hardware platforms, software applications and numerous interfaces included in the Local Area Network (LAN). Competent to perform security management work in accordance with AF, AFSPC, National Guard Bureau (NGB) and Air National Guard (ANG) regulations and policies. Education Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
