Job Description


Job Overview:

The Cambridge Technical Specialist role is a technical research and support position that focuses on building High Performance Computing, Enterprise IT, and End User solutions for our customers. This individual will partner with our relationship sales managers (RMs) and solution architects (SAs) to identify and configure solutions with a diverse group of technology manufacturers. By developing personal, technical, sales, and operational expertise in Cambridge solutions, this role can scale into opportunities of greater responsibility on our pre- and post- sales technical teams depending on strengths and interests.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Work together with RMs on daily sales process tasks including but not limited to:


  • Write quotes, build proposals, and manage statements of work in a manner that maximizes company profit.

  • Communicate with vendors and clients.

  • Manage sales and order logistics.

  • Populate and maintain Cambridge's client relationship management (CRM) tools with accurate and timely information.


Collaborate with RMs and SAs on client solutions:

  • Perform product and technology research on enterprise information technologies, including CPU and GPU; networking (core & edge), data storage (SAN, NAS, scale-out, object, archival, lifecycle management); data protection (backup and disaster recovery); server and container virtualization (VMware, Redhat, Kubernetes); firewalls, VPNs and SSE; information security, and other enterprise data center technologies.

  • Identify customer needs and wants, and aid in making recommendations for the best platforms to meet those criteria.

  • Build and validate customer deliverables, including configurations, quotes, proposals, and statements of work.

  • Contribute to online and in-person meetings, technical demonstrations, and conferences, and represent the company with a high degree of professionalism.


Cambridge initiatives:

  • Gain product and technology knowledge and certifications for the wide array of vendors we do business with.

  • Manage positive relationships with strategic vendors.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on select vendors and technologies, and share knowledge with the team through internal presentations and documentation.

  • Build familiarity with trends in enterprise IT and stay up-to-date on new offerings.

  • Understand and execute corporate and sales management's goals and objectives.

  • Engage regularly and frequently with Cambridge's internal tools as assigned, including but not limited to: CRM system, document management system, & company calendar.



Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in enterprise technology in a technical role.

  • University undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in enterprise technology required. Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and/or advanced degree preferred.

  • Candidates should have a good understanding of technology and the IT ecosystem, and a passion to learn more in that interest area.

  • Candidates must be able to work remotely, independently, and unsupervised.

  • Candidates must have impeccable communications skills, an ability to multitask, and high attention to detail. They must be able to negotiate, be proactive in their approach, effective problem solvers, organized, creative, outgoing, deal with ambiguity, and able to work with different types of personalities.

Estimated Salary Range
$60k - $80k per year
