Job Description

This position may be eligible for a hybrid telework option (up to 3 days telework), in accordance with the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency Telework Policy. This position will be required to report to the Sacramento Headquarters Office as required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Under the direction of the Information Technology Manager I, in the Data Integration Unit, the Information Technology Specialist I works independently and serves as a data analytics solutions specialist responsible for planning, developing and impl ementing technological solutions based on the California Homelessness Data Integration System (HDIS) platform, HDIS subject matter expert for new projects and initiatives, and managing and coordinating requests for data and information. The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing, developing, designing, implementing, and testing new and existing dashboards and other data visualizations, including pertaining to vulnerable populations such as unaccompanied women, survivors of domestic violence and their children, and unaccompanied youth. The ITS I should be an expert in SQL and in Tableau.

This is a Limited-Term assignment; it may become permanent, be extended or be cancelled at any time.

This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and once per year. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.

Department Information The Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency (BCSH) is the California government cabinet-level agency that licenses and regulates over 4 million professionals, businesses, and financial services; funds and facilitates the preservation and expansion of safe, affordable housing; advances statewide collaborative efforts to prevent and end homelessness; and guards and enforces California's civil rights laws.

The California Inter-agency Council on Homelessness (Cal ICH), an entity within BCSH, is a statewide facilitator, coordinator, and leader for policy development and research for state, local and Tribal partners in their work to prevent and end homelessness in California. Cal ICH equally values: purposeful and action-oriented leadership and collaboration across member agencies and departments; meaningful partnerships with local jurisdictions; the pursuit of racial equity and justice and the expertise of persons with lived experience of homelessness.
