Applications Engineer I

Reporting To: Colin Watts

Description

This position will be responsible for providing timely, and accurate Line Shaft Turbine, Submersible Turbine, and packaged system quotations along with assistance to our customers. This role will work with value centers and field sales to understand market demands and customer expectations. Operating with a sense of urgency and ensuring a high attention to detail is a must.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide concise and professional submittal packages that optimize designs based on a specific project's requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance to internal and external sales personnel and customers as needed to support relationships and growth.
  • Work with suppliers and a purchasing team to obtain best cost for nonstock items.
  • Achieve margin, sales, and growth targets.
  • Must have a strong understanding of metallurgies and materials to best support a project while controlling cost for the customer and the company.
  • Receive customer purchase orders.
  • Maintain quote logs (Wins & Losses).
  • Quote, enter and track both new applications and pump repairs.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple, concurrent high spec projects.
  • Role can include other duties as assigned.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two years related experience, pump sales and service.
  • Must have knowledge of pump construction, various metallurgies, and hydraulics.
  • Strong math and engineering skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Microsoft Office (Excel)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once, and to review technical specifications and contracts.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment
  • Ability to lead group meetings and teams on projects as required.
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate on call assignments as required. (Travel is seldom required)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Engineering or Advanced technical degree
  • Experience with Drawing software such as Solid Works or similar
  • Excellent in MS Office applications
  • ERP and related experience
