Organizational Setting The Fisheries and Aquaculture Division (NFI) is responsible for the economic, social, institutional, governance and policy aspects of FAO's activities related to fisheries and aquaculture and their development. Reporting Lines The Fishery Officer (Training Coordinator) reports to the Senior Fishery Officer/Team Leader, Fisheries Global and Regional Processes Team (NFIFP). Technical Focus The Fishery Officer (Training Coordinator) supports the coordination and implementation of activities and initiatives related to the delivery of GCP/GLO/1236/ROK: NFIFP's Global Training Programme (GTP). Key Functions Researches, analyses and provides access to fisheries and aquaculture technical, social, economic, environmental, institutional and technology related data. Produces a variety of technical data, statistics, information and reports. Participates in the development of improved/updated technical, statistical and/or analytical tools. Collaborates in capacity development activities within Members. Supports resource mobilization activities. Specific Functions Supports the coordination of initiatives related to training courses under the NFIFP's GTP. Contributes to the drafting and preparation of related training materials. Facilitates coordination for the delivery of courses. Supports planning, coordination and delivery of training courses at national level. Supports project management through drafting of project proposals and reporting. CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING Advanced university degree in fisheries, fisheries resources management, or related fields. Five years of relevant experience in fisheries enforcement, monitoring, control and surveillance. Working knowledge of English and intermediate knowledge of another FAO official language. Technical/Functional Skills Work experience in more than one location or area of work. Extent and relevance of experience in fisheries management. Ability to analyse complex fisheries management issues from an international point of view. GENERAL INFORMATION FAO reserves the right not to make an appointment.
