Head of Platform - DevOps

1. Strategic Leadership : - Develop and execute a strategic vision for the Platform Engineering team, aligned with the organization & it's overall technology and business objectives. - Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies and industry best practices in platform engineering. 2. Team Management : - Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of platform engineers, architects, and DevOps professionals. - Foster a collaborative and agile team culture, emphasizing continuous improvement and learning. 3. Platform Design and Development : - Oversee the design and development of scalable and resilient platforms, ensuring they meet performance, security, and reliability requirements. - Drive the adoption of best practices in infrastructure as code (IaC) and configuration management. 4. Cloud Technologies : - Stay current with the latest cloud technologies, particularly in platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. - Provide expertise in cloud architecture and guide the team in optimizing platform performance in the cloud. 5. DevOps and Automation : - Champion DevOps practices to streamline the software development lifecycle. - Implement and enhance automation processes for deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of platform services. 6. Collaboration with Other Teams : - Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to platform engineering. - Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders, communicating platform- related concepts effectively. 7. Performance Monitoring and Optimization : - Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for platforms, taking proactive measures to optimize performance and cost-efficiency. - Conduct regular reviews of platform architecture and recommend improvements. Qualifications : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. - Proven experience (20 years) in a leadership role within a platform engineering or similar environment. - In-depth knowledge of platform technologies, cloud architecture, and DevOps practices. - Strong understanding of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). - Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Chef. - Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Additional Requirements : - Demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate plans into action. - Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced environment. - Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. - Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or equivalent.
