Moodle Developer - PHP

Job Title : Lead Moodle Developer Job Summary : We are looking for an experienced Lead Moodle Developer to spearhead the development, customization, and optimization of our Moodle-based Learning Management System (LMS). The successful candidate will lead a team of developers, manage end-to-end development processes, and ensure the delivery of high-quality e-learning solutions. This role requires strong technical expertise in Moodle architecture, plugin development, and the ability to manage projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities : - Lead Moodle Development : Oversee the customization, development, and deployment of the Moodle LMS to meet organizational needs. - Moodle Customization : Develop custom themes, modules, and plugins, enhancing the platform's functionality. - Team Leadership : Manage, mentor, and guide a team of developers, setting goals, conducting code reviews, and ensuring best development practices. - Integration & API Development : Develop and maintain integrations between Moodle and external systems (e., CRM, ERP, SIS) via APIs and web services. - Performance Optimization : Ensure the Moodle platform is optimized for performance, scalability, and security. - Collaboration with Stakeholders : Work closely with instructional designers, administrators, and other internal teams to gather requirements, provide technical advice, and implement solutions. - Troubleshooting & Support : Provide advanced technical support, resolving platform related issues, and ensuring smooth operation. - Security & Compliance : Ensure the Moodle platform follows industry-standard security protocols and adheres to data protection regulations such as GDPR. - Documentation : Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for custom developments, integrations, and configurations. Qualifications : Education : Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience : - 5 years of hands-on experience in Moodle development, administration, and integration. - Proven experience in leading development teams and managing LMS-related projects. Technical Skills : - Expert-level knowledge of PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX. - Strong understanding of Moodle architecture, plugin development, and theme customization. - Proficiency in integrating Moodle with other systems using web services like REST and SOAP. - Experience with SSO technologies such as OAuth2, SAML, or LDAP. - Familiarity with Linux/Unix-based environments and server management. - Experience using version control systems like Git. Soft Skills : - Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills. - Ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Preferred Qualifications : - Experience with cloud-based Moodle hosting (AWS, Azure). - Knowledge of e-learning standards such as SCORM, xAPI (Tin Can). - Familiarity with Agile or Scrum development methodologies. - Experience with Moodle's mobile app and responsive design techniques.
