Senior Software Engineer - Ruby Programming

Job Overview : As a Senior Software Engineer - Backend, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining our backend systems and infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable and efficient solutions that support our web and mobile applications. Your expertise in backend development and strong problem-solving skills will be critical in delivering high-quality products that enhance the learning experience of our young users. Key Responsibilities : - Design, develop and maintain scalable and highly available backend systems - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions - Implement data storage and retrieval solutions, including databases and caching layers - Proficient in SQL with a focus on PostgreSQL, demonstrating experience in database design, - query optimization, and data modelling for efficient and scalable applications. - Optimise and tune existing backend systems for better performance and scalability - Troubleshoot and debug production issues, and provide timely resolutions - Conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards to maintain code quality Qualifications : - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field - At least 5 years of experience in backend development, preferably in a fast-paced environment - Strong knowledge of programming languages like Ruby - Experience with designing and implementing RESTful APIs and micro-services - Proficient in database design and management - Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS or GCP - Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex production issues - Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment (ref:hirist.tech)
