Mainframe Developer - COBOL/DB2

Key Responsibilities : - Develop, maintain, and support Cobol applications in a mainframe environment. - Work with DB2 and IMS DB/DC to design, implement, and optimize database solutions. - Write and manage JCL for job scheduling and execution. - Perform debugging, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure applications run efficiently. - Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and provide technical solutions. - Ensure the quality and reliability of code by following best practices and conducting peer reviews. - Participate in code optimization, database tuning, and performance enhancement activities. - Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing applications. Required Skills & Qualifications : - 3-6 years of experience in Mainframe technologies, including Cobol, DB2, IMS DB/DC, and JCL. - Strong experience in Cobol programming in mainframe applications. - Proficiency in working with DB2 for data management and querying. - Solid experience in IMS DB/DC for database and transaction management. - Hands-on knowledge of Job Control Language (JCL) for job scheduling and execution. - Good understanding of mainframe tools, utilities, and debugging techniques. - Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. - Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team. - Ability to understand and adhere to project requirements and timelines. Preferred Skills : - Knowledge of batch processing and mainframe performance tuning. - Experience with IDMS or other mainframe database systems is a plus. - Familiarity with Agile methodologies is an advantage (ref:hirist.tech)
