Job Description

Key Skills : - Network Architecture & Design - LAN/WAN/VLAN/SD-WAN - VPNs, Firewalls & Network Security (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto) - Virtualization (VMware (vCloud, Hyper-V) - Cloud Networking (Azure, AWS) - Routing Protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) - Network Monitoring & Performance Tuning - Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity - Troubleshooting & Issue Escalation - Documentation & Process Improvement - Vendor & Client Relationship Management Job Description : 1. Network Design & Architecture : - Develop detailed network architectures, including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, VLAN, and VPN designs, ensuring scalability, performance, and security. - Architect solutions for multi-site and multi-tenant environments, integrating core, distribution, and access layers for optimal network efficiency. - Design and implement software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV) architectures. 2. Cloud Networking : - Architect and deploy cloud networking solutions, including public, private, and hybrid cloud environments with providers such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and VMware vCloud. - Implement cloud-based VPNs, virtual private clouds (VPCs), and direct connectivity solutions, ensuring secure and efficient communication between on-premises and cloud environments. - Design multi-region, high-availability network solutions with cloud-native services like Azure Virtual WAN and AWS Direct Connect. 3. Routing & Switching : - Configure and manage advanced routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and MPLS to optimize traffic flow and ensure network stability. - Design resilient and redundant layer 2 and layer 3 switching architectures, including VLAN segmentation, spanning tree protocols (STP), and link aggregation. - Optimize routing paths and traffic engineering to ensure low-latency and high-performance network communication. 4. Network Security : - Architect secure network infrastructures using firewalls, intrusion prevention/detection systems (IPS/IDS), next-gen firewalls, and Zero Trust models. - Design and deploy VPNs, DMZ architectures, and secure access control policies for both internal and external traffic. - Implement Network Access Control (NAC) and secure segmentation strategies to isolate critical assets and prevent lateral movement of threats. 5. High Availability & Redundancy : - Design and implement high availability (HA) architectures, utilizing failover protocols, load balancing, and redundant network paths to ensure uninterrupted services. - Ensure network resilience through the use of technologies like VRRP, HSRP, BGP failover, and multi-homed connectivity. - Plan and implement active-active and active-passive failover mechanisms for data centers and critical network services. 6. Performance Optimization : - Optimize network performance by designing Quality of Service (QoS) policies to prioritize critical traffic and manage bandwidth usage. - Conduct performance tuning for high-traffic networks, utilizing technologies like WAN optimization, load balancing, and content delivery networks (CDNs). - Use performance monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, NetFlow) to analyze network performance and fine-tune configurations. 7. Network Virtualization : - Design and implement virtualized network functions using VMware NSX, Cisco ACI, or other network virtualization platforms. - Create isolated virtual networks within cloud and on-premises environments, ensuring proper segmentation and secure traffic flow. - Leverage virtual switches, routers, and firewalls to optimize the use of physical resources in virtualized data centers. 8. Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity : - Architect disaster recovery (DR) solutions, ensuring the replication of network infrastructure across geographic locations for failover. - Design and test failover mechanisms, such as multi-site DR, backup WAN paths, and redundant data center connectivity. - Implement and test automated failover and recovery processes to ensure minimal downtime in case of network failures. 9. Automation & Orchestration : - Implement network automation strategies using tools such as Ansible, Python, Terraform, and Cisco DNA to automate routine tasks and configuration management. - Create automated scripts for provisioning, configuring, and monitoring network devices and services to reduce manual effort and errors. - Develop and deploy automated infrastructure for network monitoring and alerting systems to ensure real time awareness of network health. 10. Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting : - Design and implement comprehensive network monitoring solutions using tools like Nagios, Wireshark, SolarWinds, and PRTG. - Develop real-time dashboards and alerts to monitor network performance, availability, and security. - Troubleshoot complex network issues, including routing loops, traffic bottlenecks, and protocol misconfigurations, to resolve performance or availability problems. Key Technical Responsibilities : 1. VMware vCloud Environment Management : - Design, deploy, and manage VMware vCloud Director infrastructure, including vCenter, ESXi, and vCloud Director instances. - Configure and maintain vCloud environments for multi-tenant operations, ensuring resource allocation, high availability, and disaster recovery readiness. - Manage virtual data centers (vDCs) and allocate resources such as CPU, memory, storage, and networking to tenants. 2. vSphere and ESXi Administration : - Manage and optimize vSphere environments, ensuring the smooth operation of ESXi hosts, virtual machines, and associated networking/storage components. - Perform vSphere cluster management, including vMotion, DRS (Distributed Resource Scheduler), and HA (High Availability) to ensure resource efficiency and service continuity. - Manage VM templates, snapshots, and cloning to support rapid deployment and environment consistency. 3. vCloud Networking and Security : - Design and manage virtual networks using vCloud Networking and Security (vCNS) or NSX, creating secure and scalable virtualized network infrastructures. - Implement network segmentation, firewall rules, and load balancing for virtual machines within the vCloud environment. - Configure and manage virtual switches (vSwitches) and distributed switches (vDS) to enable efficient virtual networking across data centers. 4. Resource Allocation and Performance Tuning : - Monitor and manage resource allocation for vCloud environments, ensuring optimal performance and efficient use of CPU, memory, and storage resources. - Perform capacity planning and proactively adjust resource pools to prevent overutilization or performance bottlenecks. - Implement performance tuning strategies, leveraging tools such as vRealize Operations Manager to monitor and optimize system health. 5. vCloud Automation : - Develop and implement automation for vCloud operations using tools like vRealize Automation, vRealize Orchestrator, and PowerCLI. - Automate provisioning, scaling, and management of virtual machines and infrastructure resources to improve operational efficiency. - Build workflows for automating routine tasks such as VM deployment, backup processes, and configuration changes. 6. Disaster Recovery and Backup : - Design and manage disaster recovery (DR) strategies for VMware vCloud environments, implementing solutions like vSphere Replication and vCloud Availability for data protection. - Ensure regular backups of virtual machines, vApps, and cloud resources using solutions such as Veeam or vCloud Availability. - Test and validate DR plans to ensure rapid failover and recovery in case of outages or hardware failures. 7. Storage Management in vCloud : - Manage datastores and storage policies within the vCloud environment, ensuring proper allocation and performance of storage resources. - Configure and manage vSAN clusters or other storage solutions to support high availability and efficient data access for virtual machines. - Monitor and optimize storage I/O, balancing storage workloads to prevent bottlenecks and improve performance. 8. Networking in vCloud Director : - Configure and manage vCloud Edge Gateways, including firewall rules, NAT, VPNs, and load balancing for tenant environments. - Implement virtual private networks (VPNs) and other secure networking solutions to connect on-premises networks with the vCloud environment. - Oversee network isolation and tenant network segmentation to ensure secure, multi-tenant network operations within the cloud. 9. Patching and Upgrading vCloud Infrastructure : - Plan and execute patches, upgrades, and maintenance of vSphere, ESXi hosts, and vCloud Director to ensure environments remain up to date and secure. - Test upgrades in non-production environments before rolling them out to live systems to prevent downtime or service disruptions. - Maintain compatibility with VMware tools, drivers, and APIs for third-party integrations. 10. vCloud Monitoring and Troubleshooting : - Monitor the health and performance of vCloud environments using tools like vRealize Operations Manager, vCenter, and other monitoring tools. - Perform advanced troubleshooting for vCloud-related issues, including virtual machine performance, network connectivity, and storage problems. - Resolve complex technical issues involving vCloud Director, vCenter, ESXi, and other VMware components by analyzing logs and leveraging VMware support resources. 11.Security and Compliance in vCloud : - Implement and enforce security best practices for vCloud environments, including role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and multi-factor authentication. - Ensure compliance with security policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, PCI-DSS), particularly in multi-tenant environments. - Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and patch management to mitigate risks within the vCloud infrastructure. 12. vCloud API Integration and Customization : - Leverage vCloud APIs to integrate with third-party tools and systems, automating workflows and extending vCloud Director functionality. - Customize and develop scripts using PowerCLI, Python, or other programming languages to manage vCloud resources programmatically. - Collaborate with DevOps and development teams to create custom automation solutions that align with business needs.
