Unix Shell Scripting Engineer - System Architecture

Job Description : Role : Unix Shell Scripting Engineer - As a Unix Shell Scripting Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining Unix shell scripts to automate system tasks and enhance operational efficiency - This position involves working closely with system administrators, developers, and other IT professionals to streamline processes and ensure the smooth operation of Unix-based systems Responsibilities : Script Development : - Design, develop, and maintain Unix shell scripts to automate routine system tasks and processes - Create scripts for system monitoring, log rotation, backup procedures, and other operational needs System Automation : - Implement automation solutions to improve the efficiency and reliability of system administration tasks - Work on job scheduling, cron jobs, and other automation frameworks Troubleshooting : - Analyse and troubleshoot issues related to existing shell scripts and automation processes - Collaborate with system administrators and support teams to resolve scripting-related problems Script Optimisation : - Optimise existing scripts for improved performance, resource utilisation, and maintainability - Implement best practices in script development to ensure code quality Collaboration : - Work closely with system administrators, developers, and other IT teams to understand automation requirements - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate scripts into larger system architectures Documentation : - Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all developed scripts - Provide documentation and training for system administrators and other relevant stakeholders Security Compliance : - Ensure that shell scripts adhere to security standards and best practices - Implement security measures within scripts to protect against vulnerabilities Profile required : - Require 1-10 years of experience in Unix Shell Scripting. - Clear understanding of Software Development life cycle and process Oriented - Good fundamentals in Core Programming, Object Oriented design & Design Patterns - Good RDBMS fundamentals with exposure to Sybase. - Good to have experience in writing SQL, stored procedures and functions. - Good to have exposure to Investment banking/Private banking domain. - Good to have exposure on working with European teams (Luxembourg /France) (ref:hirist.tech)
