Job Description

Field Service Engineer (Medical Technology)

Location: Field-Based (UK-wide, with occasional international travel)

Reports to: Service Manager


Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Field Service Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of integrated operating room systems and visual communication solutions in healthcare settings across the UK. This role requires frequent travel to major hospitals and healthcare facilities, with occasional international assignments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on medical technology systems at customer sites and the central repair facility.
  • Provide on-site technical support, including installation, commissioning, repair, and maintenance of systems and related equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, ensuring all service data is safely archived.
  • Promote service and maintenance agreements to new and existing customers.
  • Adhere to company policies, health & safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Participate in training programs to stay current with new products and technologies.
  • Maintain and be responsible for company equipment and vehicles.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • ONC or equivalent qualification in Electronic Engineering, or relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in an engineering or field service role, preferably within a regulated environment (ISO13485/9001).
  • Knowledge of PC-based systems, networking, and audio/visual equipment is advantageous.
  • Full driving license is required.
  • A recognized engineering apprenticeship is desirable.

  • Strong technical knowledge in electronic engineering and IT/networking.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet the demands of the role.


Special Conditions:

  • The role requires regular travel and may involve working unsociable hours, including weekends.
  • Extended periods away from home may be necessary.
