Machinist Technician - Lead

Title: Machinist Technician - Lead Location: Independence, MO Salary: $ 79,152depending on experience.Schedule: 980 schedule with overtime as needed. Focus: As a Machinist Technician - Lead with Olin Winchester, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining various machines used in manufacturing settings, such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines. You will interpret engineering drawings, set up machines, and ensure that finished products meet quality and safety standards. You will also perform routine maintenance on machines, troubleshoot issues, and may assist in the design and development of new products. Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are important for success in this role. Machinist Technician - Lead Job Functions: Operate various machine shop equipment including CNC and manual mills, lathes, and other equipment. Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary. Prepare bills of material, specifications, and work orders. Act as Subject Matter Expert in assigned area to identify areas of weakness and identify/correct issues in the area as they arise. Machinist Technician - Lead Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree/certificate in Tool & Die or Machining preferred. Minimum 5 years recent relevant experience with 3 years of Machining / Tool & Die experience; ability to program CNC mills and lathes. Reading and understanding blueprints and specifications. Experience with AutoCAD software for reading, editing, and creating blueprints. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and trade-type tools to perform repairs and maintenance on equipment. Ability to work effectively without direct supervision and be comfortable instructing others if needed. Location-Specific Requirements: Must possess a Valid US driver's license. This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required. This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies.
